Gently rock the toner from side to side to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.ĭ. If toner scatters on hands or clothing, immediately wipe it off or wash it with cold water.Ĭ. NOTE: Handle the toner cartridge carefully. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum by holding down the green lock lever on the left side of the drum unit and lifting the toner out. NOTE: We recommend that you place the toner and drum assembly on a piece of paper in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.ī. Open the front cover and remove the drum and toner assembly. Clean the drum surface and scanner glass window.Ī. If black horizontal lines are there and did not improve, continue to the next step.ĩ. Upon completion, please discard the used paper. If black horizontal lines are still there but have improved, repeat STEPS 4 through 8 two more times using a new blank sheet of paper each time. If no black horizontal lines appear, the issue is resolved. Press MENU, 5 (Print Reports), 5 (User Settings). When the machine has finished cleaning, the machine returns to Ready mode.Ĩ.
If the machine receives a print job before you put the sheet of paper in the manual feed slot, the machine will finish the Drum Cleaning process first, and then print the print job.ħ. The machine will stop the Drum Cleaning process and eject the paper.
DO NOT close the back cover (face-up output tray) during the Drum Cleaning process. If it is not, it may not be fed properly, resulting in a skewed printout or a paper jam. Make sure that the paper is straight and in the proper position in the manual feed slot. If the paper in the manual feed slot is other than A4 or Letter size, the machine will stop the Drum Cleaning process and eject the paper. DO NOT put more than one sheet of paper in the manual feed slot at any one time, as it may cause a jam. This noise is not due to a malfunction of the machine. The machine makes a mechanical noise during the Drum Cleaning process because the machine rotates the OPC drum in reverse. The machine will start the Drum Cleaning process. When you feel the machine pull in the paper, let go. Using both hands, put one piece of A4 or Letter size paper in the manual feed slot until the top edge of the paper touches the paper feed roller. Using both hands, slide the manual feed paper guides to the width of the paper that you are going to use.Ħ. The "Drum Cleaning" message will appear on the LCD.ĥ. Open the back cover (face-up output tray).Ĥ. Have a sheet of A4 or Letter size paper available.Ģ. Press the STOP/EXIT button to make sure the machine is in Ready mode. This issue is usually resolved by cleaning and/or replacing the drum.ġ.
